The short version#
- You can read DGTULS without an account. We don't ask for your name to read an article or use most of our tools.
- We collect only what we need: your email and username if you create an account, what you post in the forum, your email if you subscribe to the newsletter, and what you send us through the contact form.
- Most of our tools run in your browser. What you type into calculators and prompt builders stays on your device. The exceptions are explained in section 4.
- We don't sell your personal information. If we show personalized ads, you can opt out; see Your privacy choices.
- You're in control. You can ask us to see, correct, export or delete your data at any time. Write to privacy@dgtuls.com.
1. Who we are#
DGTULS ("DGTULS", "we", "us") is an independent website at dgtuls.com that publishes technology news, guides and reviews and offers free online tools, a prompt library and a community forum.
DGTULS is operated by Dgtuls, Miami, United States. For privacy questions, write to privacy@dgtuls.com. We are the "controller" of the personal information described in this policy, which means we decide how and why it's used.
2. What this policy covers#
This policy applies to dgtuls.com, its forum, newsletter, tools and emails we send. It doesn't cover other websites you reach through our links, including stores we link to with affiliate links, or our pages on social networks like Facebook and YouTube. Those services have their own privacy policies.
3. Information we collect#
3.1 Information you give us
| When | What we collect | Required? |
|---|---|---|
| Creating an account | Email address, username, password (stored only as a secure hash), and optionally your first name | Email, username and password are required |
| Your profile | Anything you add, such as a display name, avatar or short bio | Optional |
| Posting in the forum | Your topics, replies and the time you posted them. Forum posts are public: anyone can read them. | Only if you post |
| Newsletter | Your email address and the date and method you subscribed | Only if you opt in |
| Contact form | Your name, email address and your message | Name and email are required so we can reply |
| AI provider (OpenAI) | To generate AI rewrites in the Prompt Optimizer when you ask for one. |
Please don't post sensitive information (health, finances, government ID numbers, precise location) in the forum or in messages to us.
3.2 Information collected automatically
- Server logs. Like nearly every website, our hosting server records technical information when you visit: IP address, browser and device type, the page requested, the referring page, and the date and time. We use it to run the site, keep it secure and fix errors.
- Forum and form security data. When you post in the forum or submit a form, the IP address used is stored with the post or message to prevent spam and abuse.
- Cookies and similar technologies. Small files or browser storage that keep you signed in, remember your cookie choice and, only if you allow it, support analytics and advertising. See section 7 and our Cookie Policy.
- Newsletter engagement. Our newsletter emails may record whether an email was opened and which links were clicked, so we know which topics are useful. You can avoid this by blocking images in your email app, or unsubscribe at any time.
3.3 Information from others
- Affiliate partners may tell us that a purchase happened after a click on one of our links, usually without telling us who you are. We use this only to understand which content is useful and how the site earns money.
- We don't buy personal information from data brokers.
4. Our tools and what they do with your input#
- Calculators, comparison tools, prompt builders and the prompt library run in your browser. What you type isn't sent to our server. Some tools save your last inputs in your browser's local storage so they're there when you return. You can clear them by clearing your browser's site data.
- Website Tech Analyzer. When you submit a website address, our server visits that public website to detect the technologies it uses. We store the address you submitted and the result for up to 24 hours as a cache, and keep a short-lived counter tied to your account to enforce the daily limit. The tool is only available after you sign in, so it does not store your IP address for that counter. Only submit websites you're allowed to analyze.
- AI rewrite (Prompt Optimizer). If you're signed in and click "Rewrite with AI", the prompt you entered is sent to OpenAI to generate the improved version, and the result is returned to you. We don't store your prompt or the result. OpenAI processes it under its API terms, which state that API data isn't used to train its models by default. Don't include personal or confidential information in prompts.
5. How we use information#
We use personal information to:
- create and manage your account and let you sign in;
- show your forum posts and profile, and moderate the community;
- send emails you asked for: account and security emails, replies to your messages, and the newsletter if you subscribed;
- answer your questions, corrections and tips;
- run, secure and improve the site and tools, including preventing spam, fraud and abuse;
- understand which articles and tools are useful, using aggregated information where possible;
- show ads and earn affiliate commissions that keep the site free (see section 7);
- comply with the law and enforce our Terms of Use.
We don't use your personal information to make decisions that have legal or similarly significant effects on you.
6. Legal bases (EU, UK and similar laws)#
If you're in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom, Switzerland or another place with similar laws, we rely on:
- Contract: to provide your account and the forum.
- Consent: for the newsletter, non-essential cookies, analytics and personalized advertising. You can withdraw consent at any time.
- Legitimate interests: to run and secure the site, prevent abuse, answer messages and understand how the site is used, in ways you'd reasonably expect.
- Legal obligation: when the law requires us to keep or disclose information.
7. Cookies, advertising and analytics#
Essential cookies keep you signed in, protect forms and remember your cookie choice. They're always on.
Optional cookies are used only with your permission (where the law requires it), which you can give or change at any time in Cookie settings. We honor the Global Privacy Control (GPC) signal as a request to opt out of advertising cookies and the "sale" or "sharing" of personal information.
Advertising. DGTULS may show ads served by Google (including Google AdSense). When ads are on:
- Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this website and other websites.
- Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visits to DGTULS and/or other sites on the internet.
- You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings. You can also opt out of some third-party vendors' use of cookies for personalized advertising at aboutads.info.
- Learn how Google uses information from sites that use its services: policies.google.com/technologies/partner-sites.
If you're in the EEA, UK or Switzerland, ads are shown only after you choose in our consent message, and you can choose non-personalized ads.
Analytics. We use Google Analytics 4 to measure traffic, only with your consent where required. We don't send names, emails or what you type to Google Analytics, and we keep event data for 14 months. The cookies are listed in the Cookie Policy.
Affiliate links. Some links to stores go through dgtuls.com/go/… and then to the store. The store or affiliate network may set its own cookies to credit us for a purchase. See our Affiliate Disclosure.
Embedded content. Videos or posts embedded from other sites (like YouTube) behave as if you visited those sites. We load them only when you choose to play them or when you've allowed functional cookies.
8. Who we share information with#
We share personal information only with service providers that help us run DGTULS, under contracts that limit how they can use it, and only as needed:
| Provider type | Why |
|---|---|
| Web hosting (servers in the United States) | To host the website, forum and databases |
| Email delivery | To send account emails, replies and the newsletter |
| Security and anti-spam services | To block spam sign-ups and abusive traffic |
| Advertising partners (Google) | To show ads, as described in section 7, only with your consent where required |
| Google (Google Analytics) | To measure traffic, as described in section 7 |
| Automattic / WordPress.com (Jetpack Social) | To share our new articles to our Facebook Page. This sends article titles and links, not visitor data |
We may also disclose information:
- if required by law, a valid legal process or a government request;
- to protect the rights, safety and security of DGTULS, our users or others, including to investigate fraud or abuse;
- in a business transfer, such as a merger or sale of the site, in which case the new owner must respect this policy or tell you about changes.
We don't sell personal information for money. Under some US state laws, letting advertising partners use cookies for personalized ads can count as "selling" or "sharing". You can opt out of that at any time; see Your privacy choices.
9. How long we keep information#
| Information | How long |
|---|---|
| Account information | While your account is open. We delete it within 30 days after you ask us to close your account. |
| Forum posts | While your account is open. If you delete your account, we delete your profile and either delete your posts or keep them with the author shown as "Former member" so discussions still make sense. You can ask us to delete specific posts. |
| Newsletter subscription | Until you unsubscribe. Afterwards we keep your email on a suppression list, so we don't email you again. |
| Contact messages | Up to 24 months, then deleted, unless needed for a legal matter |
| Server logs | Usually up to 30 days, as set by our hosting provider |
| Security IP records with posts and forms | Up to 12 months |
| Website Tech Analyzer results and limits | Up to 24 hours |
Cookie choice (dg_consent) | 180 days, then we ask again |
Checked on October 24, 2026. A visit while signed out does not set a cookie. Sign-in cookies appear only after you sign in. Tool keys appear only after you use that tool. Google Analytics cookies (_ga, _ga_*) are set only after you allow Analytics, and can last up to 2 years. Google advertising cookies are not loaded. YouTube cookies are set only when you play an embedded video. MemberPress and the contact form do not set their own cookies.
10. Your rights and choices#
Wherever you live, you can ask us to:
- access the personal information we have about you, and get a copy in a portable format;
- correct information that's wrong;
- delete your information and your account;
- object to or restrict some uses, and withdraw consent (for example, unsubscribe or change cookie settings).
How:
- Account and newsletter: edit your details and email preferences on your account page, or use the unsubscribe link at the bottom of any newsletter.
- Delete your account: use "Delete my account" on your account page, or email us.
- Everything else: email privacy@dgtuls.com with "Privacy request" in the subject.
We'll reply within 30 days (45 days where US state law allows, and we'll tell you if we need more time). To protect you, we may ask you to confirm your identity, usually by replying from the email address on your account. We won't treat you differently for using your rights.
If you're in the EEA or UK, you can also complain to your local data protection authority. We'd appreciate the chance to fix the problem first.
11. US state privacy rights#
Residents of California and other US states with privacy laws (such as Colorado, Connecticut, Virginia, Utah, Texas and Oregon) have specific rights.
- Categories we collect (past 12 months): identifiers (email, username, IP address); internet activity (pages viewed, interactions with ads and links); and, if you post or write to us, the content you provide. We collect them from you, your device and our service providers, for the purposes in section 5.
- Sensitive information: we don't intentionally collect it, and we don't use it to infer characteristics about you.
- "Sale" and "sharing": we don't sell personal information for money. When personalized advertising is on, advertising cookies may count as "sharing" for cross-context behavioral advertising. Opt out at Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information, or use Global Privacy Control, which we honor automatically.
- Your rights: to know, access, correct, delete and opt out, and to appeal if we deny your request. To appeal, reply to our decision with "Appeal" in the subject. If you're unhappy with the outcome, you can contact your state's attorney general.
- Authorized agents may make requests for you with your signed permission. We may still verify your identity directly.
- Minors: we don't sell or share the personal information of anyone we know is under 16.
12. International transfers#
DGTULS is operated from United States, and our servers are in the United States. Your information may be processed in countries other than yours, which may have different data protection laws. When we transfer personal information from the EEA, UK or Switzerland, we rely on appropriate safeguards, such as the European Commission's Standard Contractual Clauses used by our providers.
13. Children#
DGTULS is for a general adult audience. You must be at least 16 years old to create an account or post in the forum. We don't knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you think a child has given us personal information, email privacy@dgtuls.com and we'll delete it.
14. Security#
We use HTTPS across the site, store passwords only as secure hashes, limit who can access the admin area, keep software updated and use spam and abuse protection. No website can be 100% secure. Use a unique password for DGTULS, and tell us right away if you think your account was compromised.
15. Links to other sites#
Our articles link to company websites, stores and other sources. We're not responsible for their privacy practices, so read their policies before you share information with them.
16. Changes to this policy#
We'll update this policy when our practices change, and change the "Last updated" date at the top. If a change is significant, we'll also post a notice on the site and, if you have an account, email you before it takes effect.
